Åkrafjorden Via Ferrata
Climb spectacular Via Ferrata routes above Åkrafjorden, from the family-friendly Ingadalen route to the challenging Kyrkjeveggen. Choose between several routes with dramatic fjord views, exposed climbing and options for both beginners and experienced adventurers.
Experience Via Ferrata in the spectacular landscape of Åkrafjorden, where fixed cables, steps and exposed mountain sections combine climbing with dramatic views across the fjord.
Åkrafjorden Nature offers several routes with different levels of difficulty. Ingadalen is the most family-friendly option and is well suited to beginners, with a round trip of around 2.5–3 hours. Kyrkjeveggen is the major challenge – a demanding Grade D route climbing from around 50 metres to 550 metres above sea level, with the option to continue on foot to Fjæratoppen at 713 metres.
For experienced visitors looking for an even longer adventure, Hylling can be combined with parts of Kyrkjeveggen. The easier Jettegrytene route offers a family-friendly alternative and can be completed without Via Ferrata climbing equipment.
Guide & Equipment
Climbing equipment can be rented from Åkrafjorden Nature, and guided trips are available. A guide is recommended, especially if you have limited Via Ferrata experience. Experienced climbers may climb independently, but must register with Åkrafjorden Nature and use approved safety equipment.
