Walk to the end of the car park, where the trail begins. The trail leads to the right and takes you up the back of the mountain. The first section is flat, with the mountain on your left and Raudfjorden on your right. This is a popular hike, so the trail is well maintained. The route is marked with small cairns and red-painted lines on the rocks all the way to the summit. After a few hundred metres, the trail turns southeast and becomes steeper before turning south again and gently ascending towards the mountainside.
Go through the gate and turn left at the sign. The views of Raudfjorden and the surrounding mountains now become spectacular. After around 2 km, the trail turns southeast again and becomes steeper. Watch out for loose gravel on the rocks, as it is easy to slip here.
The final section is even steeper and involves some easy scrambling. Follow the red pipe to the summit.
At the summit, there is a large mast, a building and two cairns. Bitihorn is said to offer the finest views in the area, and the author can confirm that it does.
There are magnificent views in every direction, including Beitostølen, Jotunheimen, Hurrungene (the alpine part of Jotunheimen), Valdresflye and large parts of Valdres.
Return by the same route, or alternatively descend via Tyskerstigen.
