About Bleikstranda
Bleikstranda is a long sandy beach beside the fishing village of Bleik on the outer coast of Andøya. The shoreline curves beneath low coastal mountains and faces Bleiksøya, a steep offshore island known for seabird colonies. The open sea, broad horizon and changing surf define the beach more than built visitor infrastructure.
The surrounding landscape was shaped by ice, waves and wind, with dunes and beach deposits forming a narrow strip between sea and settlement. Boat trips from Bleik may visit the offshore bird and whale-watching areas, while the beach itself provides a shore-based view of the island and midnight sun. Nesting birds, fragile dunes and private village property require careful behaviour. Conditions can shift quickly from calm to strong wind and breaking surf.
Visiting Bleikstranda
Use established public parking and beach access in or near Bleik and stay off fragile dunes. Check tide, surf and wind before going near the water, and book wildlife trips only with local operators that follow current distance and disturbance rules.
