Efjord
Efjord is a fjord and mountain landscape in Narvik, Norway. Efjord combines narrow fjord arms with pale granite mountains along the road south of Narvik.
About Efjord
Efjord is a branched fjord landscape south of Narvik where pale granite mountains rise above narrow blue-green waterways. Road bridges cross the inner arms, creating changing views of rock domes, tidal channels and small shoreline communities. The light-coloured bedrock gives the area a distinctive appearance compared with the darker mountains elsewhere in northern Norway.
There is no single Efjord viewpoint. Stops such as Svadet and established lay-bys reveal different mountain profiles, while the road also provides access toward Stefjord and Stetind. The granite terrain contains serious climbing and hiking objectives, but a map pin does not identify a safe route. Weather from the fjord can bring fog, wind and rapidly changing visibility, and many attractive-looking roadside areas are private or unsafe for parking.
Visiting Efjord
Plan one or two confirmed public viewpoints and use only signed parking or rest areas. Check road and mountain weather before travelling, and obtain a current route description if leaving the roadside; do not improvise climbs from the map pin.
