About Flye 1389
Flye 1389 stands at the highest point of the Valdresflye road crossing, 1,389 metres above sea level. The surrounding plateau gives broad views toward Jotunheimen and a close experience of high-mountain weather without a long approach on foot. Snowfields, low vegetation and open sky define the setting for much of the operating season.
The modern service building provides a café, information and shelter when open, concentrating facilities at a place where earlier travellers had few options. It is part of Norwegian Scenic Route Valdresflye, and the road closes through winter because of snow and wind. Even in summer, temperature and visibility can change quickly. The site is a stopping point on an active mountain road, not a base for unrestricted off-road driving or camping.
Visiting Flye 1389
Check that road 51 across Valdresflye is open and verify Flye 1389’s current service hours separately. Use the designated parking, bring warm clothing and do not rely on the café as your only source of food or shelter.
