About Furebergfossen
Furebergfossen descends from the Folgefonna mountain and glacier area beside road 551 in Mauranger. The lower cascade passes beneath the road bridge and enters Maurangerfjord directly, allowing visitors to see the connection between high-mountain runoff and the fjord within one compact view.
The waterfall is strongest during snowmelt and wet weather, when spray can reach the bridge and nearby stopping points. Its roadside setting creates a dramatic encounter but not a conventional visitor site: the carriageway is narrow, traffic continues through the spray zone and safe standing space is limited. The upper sections are partly hidden by the terrain, so the classic view focuses on the lower fan of water and the fjord immediately below.
Visiting Furebergfossen
Stop only in a signed lay-by or established parking space and never on the bridge or carriageway. Expect spray, reduced visibility and wet surfaces during strong flow; if no legal space is available, continue rather than turning the waterfall into a roadside hazard.
