The highest point in Bergen municipality is Gullfjelltoppen, 987 m above sea level.
There are several routes to the summit. The most popular start from Gullbotn and Osavatn.
The first part of the hike follows a gravel road along the dam at Svartavatnet. It then continues on a scenic trail leading to the rescue cabin. From here, descend into the valley and follow the line of cairns up to a small lake. Follow the trail on the left side of the lake and climb the steep "Korketrekkeren". From here, simply follow the line of cairns down Middagsdalen and up the final ascent to Gullfjelltoppen.
Gullfjellet truly gives you the feeling of being in the high mountains. Write your name in the summit log and enjoy the views across Hordaland.
