Hike to Fongen

Fongen is a remote summit in the Skarvan and Roltdalen area. The route from Ramsjøhytta crosses broad, open mountain terrain with few shelters and a stony upper section, rewarding the long approach with an extensive view across Trøndelag and toward Sweden. The published route is 16.6 km return, with 742 m of ascent; allow 5 hr 30 min. It is graded demanding and the recommended season is june–october. Use the toll-road parking at Skarpdalen/Finnkoisjøen and continue to Ramsjøhytta as planned.
