Hovlandsnuten is a substantial mountain hike from the Saudasjøen side, climbing through Nordstøldalen toward an open summit above Sauda. The route is long and steep, with nearly 1,000 metres of ascent and views toward the fjord, valleys and surrounding Ryfylke mountains. The published route is 14.5 km return, with 962 m of ascent; allow 6 hr 30 min. It is graded demanding and the recommended season is may–october. Use Skeivane parking in Nordstøldalen; the approach road is narrow and winding.
