Hike to Kyrkjebønnøse

Kyrkjebønnøse climbs directly from Hemsedal toward a steep, open summit overlooking the valley. The route gains almost 1,000 metres in a short distance, so it is physically demanding despite the modest length; the reward is an expansive view across the Hemsedal mountains. The published route is 10.2 km return, with 991 m of ascent; allow 4 hr 30 min. It is graded very demanding and the recommended season is june–october. The route can begin from Hemsedal centre; limited access parking is near the gravel pit at the mapped start.
