Midsundtrappene climbs thousands of stone steps from the coast toward Rørsethornet. The route gains height quickly and opens an exceptional view over the islands, fjords and ocean; after the constructed stairway, the path continues over mountain terrain to the summit. The published route is 7.9 km return, with 779 m of ascent; allow 4 hr. It is graded demanding and the recommended season is april–november. A small roadside parking area near Rørset holds only a few cars.
