Ranastongji is a high, rugged summit above Hydalen and Vavatn. The upper route crosses extensive stone and follows cairns to a panoramic top, with a dramatic drop on the far side and views toward Hemsedal's mountains and Jotunheimen. The published route is 12.6 km return, with 749 m of ascent; allow 6 hr. It is graded very demanding and the recommended season is june–october. Park at the signed area by Vabuleino at the end of Vavatn.
