Hike to Stetind (1,391 m) – Norway's National Mountain
Stetind, also known as Norway's national mountain, offers a spectacular hike for experienced climbers and mountain enthusiasts.
With its distinctive needle-shaped summit and steep mountainsides, Stetind offers an exposed and challenging ascent. The hike requires both good physical fitness and climbing experience, especially on the final sections towards the summit.
From the car park, follow the trail through open woodland before reaching the steeper ascent towards Halls Forepeak (1,314 m). From here, the route becomes more demanding, with exposed scrambling and steep sections. The final stretch to the summit requires ropes and climbing equipment, as you must cross the famous "Finger Traverse" – a narrow and exposed ridge.
At the summit, you are rewarded with one of Norway's most impressive views, stretching across fjords, mountains and the sea as far as the eye can see.
