The hike starts near Vøringsfossen. Follow the DNT-marked trail north. After a few kilometres, you will reach a summer mountain farm. At the trail junction, head into the valley on the left between Store Ishaug and Lille Ishaug. When you reach a small lake, leave the trail and head towards Store Ishaug. There is no trail, but the route is marked with stone cairns. Continue straight towards the mountain. The ascent to the summit cairn is on the left.

Wear sturdy footwear, as there may be many slippery rocks near the summit.

From the cairn, there are views of Hardangerjøkulen, Hårteigen and the southern part of Hardangervidda.
