Hike to Storronden

Storronden rises directly behind Rondvassbu and is reached by a sustained climb over increasingly loose stone. The broad summit gives a close view into Rondane's valleys and across to Rondeslottet, but the blocky terrain makes the descent slower than the distance suggests. The published route is 8.5 km return, with 959 m of ascent; allow 4 hr. It is graded demanding and the recommended season is may–october. Park at Spranget and continue about 7 km to Rondvassbu before the summit route.
