Surtningssue is a long and demanding 2,000-metre summit outing from Memurubu. The route crosses extensive high-alpine terrain, often with snowfields, and gives a remarkable overview of central Jotunheimen, Gjende and the surrounding peaks. The published route is 20.7 km circuit, with 1,495 m of ascent; allow 10 hr. It is graded very demanding and the recommended season is june–september. No road reaches Memurubu. Park at Gjendesheim and take the Gjende boat to the trailhead.
