Hike to Urdalsknuten

Urdalsknuten is a long highland outing through the Setesdal Vesthei landscape. The route passes the Svartenut area, includes rough ground and river crossings, and reaches an open summit with far-reaching mountain views; high water and lingering snow can make the journey more difficult. The published route is 18.6 km return, with 715 m of ascent; allow about 6–7 hr. It is graded demanding and the recommended season is june–october. Follow the access arrangements for Svartenut and use the mapped trailhead; observe local signs.
