The trail climbs toward Rondhalsen and continues over broken stone to views of Rondeslottet, Storsmeden and the deep valleys of Rondane. The published route is 12.4 km return, with 877 m of ascent; allow 6 hr. It is graded demanding and the recommended season is june–september. Park at Spranget and continue to Rondvassbu, the start of the marked summit route.
