Juvo Viewpoint and Rest Area, Ryfylke

Juvo is a small rest area on Road 13 near Nesflaten, with two viewpoints overlooking a steep gorge and a historic mountain road.

Ryfylke

Juvo is a small but dramatic stop along Norwegian Scenic Route Ryfylke, just north of Nesflaten on Road 13. Here, a former section of road reveals the rugged terrain of Brattlandsdalen, with steep rock walls, flowing water and traces of early road engineering.

Two viewpoints over the gorge

Two dedicated viewpoints let visitors look into the gorge and observe its striking rock formations and fast-moving river. The experience is designed to bring visitors close to the landscape while keeping them on the designated historic route.

The old Kvelven road

Juvo is associated with the old roadway beside Kvelven Tunnel. A short walk along the historic road brings visitors towards one of Norway's early road tunnels, providing a glimpse of how transport routes were carved through the mountain landscape.

How to visit

Juvo is a roadside viewpoint rather than a long hike. It is best enjoyed as a deliberate stop on a drive through Ryfylke. Stay inside designated viewing areas, and do not venture onto unsafe road or cliff edges.
