Lindesnes Lighthouse – At Norway’s Southern Tip
Visit Lindesnes Lighthouse at the southernmost point of mainland Norway, where dramatic coastal scenery, maritime history and sweeping views over the North Sea come together.
Lindesnes Lighthouse stands at the southernmost point of mainland Norway, where the North Sea meets the Skagerrak. Norway’s first lighthouse was lit here in 1656, making Lindesnes both an impressive coastal attraction and an important part of Norwegian maritime history.
Today, visitors can explore the lighthouse station, climb up to the lighthouse and enjoy wide views across the open sea. The surrounding rocky coastline and marked walking trails are also worth exploring, especially when the weather shows the dramatic side of Norway’s southern coast.
Lighthouse Museum
Lindesnes is also home to the Lindesnes Lighthouse Museum. Exhibitions tell the story of the lighthouse, Norwegian coastal culture and maritime history. The visitor centre at Fjellhallen includes exhibitions, a museum shop and a café serving simple homemade and local food.
Guided Tours
Guided tours can be arranged for groups and normally last around one hour. Tours are available in several languages and should be booked in advance.

For a particularly memorable experience, you can also stay overnight at Lindesnes Lighthouse. A holiday apartment by the sea accommodates up to six people and includes a kitchen, bathroom, living room, bedroom, Wi-Fi and free parking. Guests also receive free admission to the lighthouse museum.
