From Varpet, the hike initially follows a forest road past the Skorge mountain farm, then continues along a T-marked trail with a gentle incline to the Kallbakk mountain farm. From Kallbakk, a marked trail doubles back sharply and climbs to Kongshaug.

From the summit, there are fantastic views of the Sognefjord.
