Livarden is 683 metres above sea level and is the sixth-highest mountain in Bergen municipality. The hike begins on a gravel road past some private homes before continuing along a tractor road. Follow the road to the left up a steep hill (signposted Livarden) towards Rambjørgvatnet. Continue until the road ends. Here, there is a bench overlooking Livarden. The hike then continues on a trail. The terrain alternates between boggy ground and some steep sections, so you should wear sturdy footwear. Follow the line of cairns all the way to the summit cairn (683 m above sea level).
At the top, you can enjoy 360-degree panoramic views across southern Bergen, with Ulriken visible in the distance. You can see Skådalsnipa and Arnanipa, as well as Slettegga, Austlifjell and Hausdalshorga stretching across Dyrdalen. Gullfjellet (the North Pole) and Søre Gullfjellstoppen (the South Pole) can be seen in the background. Svenningen, Søtafjellet and Møsnuken are visible to the south.
Sign the summit book and enjoy the spectacular views.
We recommend returning the same way if your car is parked at Bontveit.
