Mountain hike to Storafjellet (641 m above sea level) from Stanghelle

Bergen

Cross the railway crossing and follow the road around the left-hand bend, continuing uphill above the railway. Walk past the house to the turning area. This is where the trail begins, climbing steeply through Kalddalen. First, cross the Kalddalselva river and follow the trail uphill on the right-hand side. The terrain is steep and rocky. Ropes have been installed in some places, while basic steps have been made in others. The trail is easy to follow and is marked with red paint and plastic markers on the trees.

Follow the trail all the way up to Helleskart at around 500 m above sea level. At the trail junction, take the trail to the left. It leads southwest up onto the ridge of Storafjellet. From here, the mountain landscape is open, and the terrain is easy to walk across to the summit cairn at 641 m above sea level.

From the summit, you have magnificent views down towards Stanghelle and across Veafjorden. For the best view, walk a little farther to the lower cairn.

Return the same way.
