About Orrestranda
Orrestranda is a broad sandy beach on the Jæren coast beside Friluftshuset Orre. The long shoreline, low dunes and adjoining wetlands form part of the protected coastal landscape, where natural processes and farming meet the North Sea. The outdoor centre provides interpretation and a practical gateway to the beach.
Wind, tide and storms continually reshape the shore, while dune vegetation stabilises the land behind it. This makes shortcuts and trampling more damaging than they may appear. The area is important for birds and seasonal access rules can apply to dogs or sensitive zones. Friluftshuset offers shelter and information when open, but the beach itself remains an exposed natural site with cold water and variable surf.
Visiting Orrestranda
Park at Orrestranda or Friluftshuset Orre and use established paths through the dunes. Check the centre’s opening separately, observe bird and dog restrictions, and review surf and tide conditions before swimming.
