Hike to Rasletinden (2,105 m) from Valdresflye in Jotunheimen
Cross the road and walk across Valdresflye towards Jotunheimen.
The hike begins on flat mountain plateau terrain. It is rocky, but the trail is good. Red-painted DNT cairns mark the route all the way to the summit. Follow the trail on the left side of Fisketjernet. After about 2 km, a steady ascent begins into Steindalen before the terrain levels out again. Cross the river (we believe this may be challenging when the water level is high) and continue along the trail up the mountainside. It now starts to get steeper.
Watch out for loose rocks and gravel. You will also cross a few patches of snow. Alternatively, you can keep right here and walk through the scree. The terrain levels out again, and the trail turns south. After a few hundred metres, it becomes steeper again on the way up to the subsidiary summit of Øystre Rasletinden (2,010 m above sea level). The trail now turns southwest, and you can see the summit of Rasletinden. Follow the ridge onwards. It descends slightly at first before the final ascent. Follow the red DNT cairns. This final section is very rocky, but the rocks are large and easy to walk on.
There is no large cairn at the summit. There is no logbook or postbox either, but the views more than make up for it! From here, you can gaze across Jotunheimen. You can also glimpse Hurrungane in the distance.
If you want a longer hike, continue along the ridge towards Sørvestre Rasletinden and then on towards Mugna. From there, you can follow the ridge around the valley and its glacier towards Munken.
Return via the same route. Enjoy your hike!
