Slottet (192 m) in Modalen
This is an easy hike suitable for everyone. From the road, it is about 1.3 km to Slottet, a rocky ledge extending over Romarheimsfjorden, 192 m above sea level.
From the road, take the trail signposted "Slottet". Follow the trail up the slope towards the southwest. Pass the large boulder and cross the small stream. The trail climbs steadily all the way and is somewhat boggy at the start. Just after the stream, there is another sign. Blue markers are painted on the trees, and the trail is easy to follow. Just before the summit, the trail descends, offering a dramatic view of the rocky ledge. Continue along the trail and around to the back of Slottet.
At the top, there is a postbox, a small cairn and impressive views of Romarheimsfjorden in both directions. If you are afraid of heights, do not venture too close to the edge. Return the same way.
