About Storesand
Storesand is a long sandy beach on Kirkøy in Hvaler. A belt of coastal forest and dunes separates the shore from roads and visitor facilities, giving the beach a sheltered landward setting while the water opens toward the Hvaler archipelago. The area is used for swimming, walking and family recreation during the warmer months.
The beach lies within a wider protected coastal landscape close to Ytre Hvaler National Park. Dunes and vegetation are easily damaged by shortcuts, fires and vehicles, so access is concentrated on established paths. The bay may appear calm, but wind, cold water and changing weather still matter. Camping and parking facilities nearby are locally managed and should not be confused with unrestricted use of the beach itself.
Visiting Storesand
Use signed public or camping parking and follow established paths through the dunes. Check local rules for fires, dogs, camping and overnight vehicles, and supervise swimmers because water temperature and wind can change quickly.
