Tungeneset - Rasteplass og utsiktspunkt på Senja
Tungeneset is a viewpoint in Senja, Norway. A wooden walkway leads from the road across the rocks toward views of the open sea and the Okshornan peaks.
About Tungeneset
Tungeneset occupies a rocky headland on Senja between Steinsfjord and Ersfjord. A wooden walkway leads from the road across exposed bedrock to an open view of the Okshornan range, whose sharp peaks are often called the Devil’s Teeth. The combination of low coastal rock, moving sea and serrated mountains creates one of the clearest visual signatures on Norwegian Scenic Route Senja.
The walkway is built in Siberian larch and follows the terrain rather than ending in a single enclosed platform. This lets visitors experience several angles while keeping foot traffic on a defined route across the rocks. Weather changes the character of the stop: calm water can reflect the peaks, while wind and swell make the shoreline feel much more exposed. The designed path is accessible, but the surrounding natural rock remains uneven and slippery.
Visiting Tungeneset
Follow the timber walkway and stay off wet rocks near the waterline, especially in wind or high swell. The small car park fills quickly in summer, so visit outside peak hours and do not stop on the scenic road if marked spaces are occupied.
