About Verdens Ende
Verdens Ende occupies the southern end of Tjøme, where bare rock and skerries face the outer Oslofjord. Its landmark is a reconstruction of a traditional tilting basket beacon, built in 1932 as a visual reference to older coastal navigation. From the headland, visitors can watch boat traffic, changing weather and the island landscape of Færder National Park.
The modern visitor area includes accessible paths, viewing terraces and the national-park centre, which explains the marine environment and cultural history. The beacon is a symbolic structure rather than an active lighthouse. Smooth coastal rock can become slippery in rain, ice or spray, and waves reach farther than expected during storms. The site is popular with both local residents and tourists, so parking pressure varies strongly by season and time of day.
Visiting Verdens Ende
Use the large public parking area and follow the marked paths toward the beacon and national-park centre. Check centre opening hours separately, keep away from wave-washed rocks in bad weather and expect parking charges or capacity controls.
