Vetvika from Svarstad in Bremanger
The hike starts at the car park. Follow the service road into Svarstaddalen. The road winds up the mountainside, and you quickly gain elevation.
Follow the road until you see a sign on the left marked "Vetvika". Take the trail across the plateau, passing the cabin. The trail is good and marked with red-painted wooden stakes. After a few hundred metres, you will reach a junction. Both trails lead to Vetvika. I recommend taking the left trail over the mountain to enjoy the magnificent views. The trail to the right is your return route if you are doing the circular hike.
Go left. There is a steady climb to the summit at 574 metres above sea level, the highest point of the hike. Continue along the marked trail across the plateau. Keep right and follow the trail between Nibba and Karihaugen. The trail now begins to descend. Follow it to the magnificent viewpoint overlooking Vetvika.
If you prefer an easier hike, this is a good place to turn around. Return the same way.
Follow the marked trail down to Vetvika. This is a demanding section, descending approximately 500 metres to the beach. Watch out for loose rocks and slippery ground. Take extra care if it has been raining.
Once you reach the beach, take a well-earned break. If the weather is fine, you can swim and sunbathe. Camping overnight is also popular here.
I recommend returning via Solheim. Follow the marked trail north and then east along Solheimsvatnet. This trail is just as well marked as the one leading to Vetvika.
Enjoy your hike!
